SECOND GENERATION OF COMMPUTER

 
                                                                                         


The second generation computer were developed during 1959 to1964 A.D. the second generation if the computers used transistor as CPU component. The size and power consumption rate decreased and efficiency and reliability increased than previous computer. This generation computers still relied on punched cards for input and printer for output.
They used machine independent high level language such as COBOL and FORTRAN to specific instructions in words. The example of second generation computres are IMB 1620, IMB 1401, UNIVAC I1108 and controlled data cooperation 3600.
